The Heads of State and Government met on December 3rd and 4th in London to mark the 70th anniversary of the Alliance.
Prime Minister António Costa attended this meeting, together with the Minister of Foreign Affairs, the Minister of National Defence and the Permanent Representative of Portugal to NATO.
During these two days, the North Atlantic Council discussed various topics, including burden sharing, the fight against terrorism, the relationship with Russia, space as a new operational domain and China.
In the London Declaration, the Alliance’s members reinforced NATO's unity and relevance today by stating, “In challenging times, we are stronger as an Alliance, and our people safer. Our bond and mutual commitment have guaranteed our freedoms, our values, and our security for seventy years. We act today to ensure that NATO guarantees those freedoms, values, and security for generations to come.”
