H. E. Ambassador Luís de Almeida Sampaio, Permanent Representative of Portugal to NATO, participated at NIAS18 (http://nias2018.com/), – NATO Information Assurance Symposium – NATO’s largest cyber conference, hosted in Mons between 16 and 18 October, under the theme “Securing NATO's Digital Endeavour”.
He took part in the Panel "From Banks to Drones, Securing our Societies across all Domains", under the theme "Education and Training in Cyber".
In his speech, H. E. Mr Luís de Almeira Sampaio said that that “pursuing a career in cyber should be seen as an act of defence of our fundamental values”. He emphasized the need of investment in technological equipment along with education and training of a workforce in this field.
The construction of the new NCIA Academy for cyber security education and training, based in Oeiras, was also highlighted.
The Symposium was promoted by NCIA, NATO Communications and Information Agency, the technological arm of the Organization, which aims to serve Member States with technological solutions of cyber security.
